For those who want an alternative to the “ears of Haman” (traditional cookies eaten in Purim holiday in Israel), which includes poppy, with less work and less calories.
For a round cake (size 26), 20 slices – 135 calories per slice
How much have we saved?
a recipe with more sugar and fat will add 60 calories per slice!
The ingredients-
⅓ cup of hot sweet wine
⅔ cup of freshly grounded poppy seed (100 g)
5 eggs
10 tablespoons of brown sugar (very finely grounded)
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of liqueur
6 tablespoons of oil
1 ½ cups of flour
1 small bag of baking powder
Preparation-
Mix the hot wine with poppy and let it seat for fifteen minutes.
Separate the yolks and protein of the eggs.
Mix the egg yolks with 5 tablespoons of sugar, vanilla and liqueur.
Add the oil tablespoon by tablespoon, and every time mix well until well mixed.
Add the flour to the egg-yolk-mixture and mix well.
Beat the egg-protein with the remaining sugar until you get a stable foam.
Gently fold the foam to the egg yolk mixture and stir lightly until blended.
Add the poppy seeds mixture and gently stir until all mixtures are well mixed.
Shift into a round pan with a baking paper.
Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees, about 45-60 minutes.
Check if read using a toothpick, stuck it in the center of the cake, it should come out clean.
